The Importance of Finding the Right Dentist for Your Children

Many adults suffer from fear of the dentist that keeps them from their routine visits. Sadly, this creates a cycle that makes the situation worse if they only visit the dentist when their teeth are hurting because then it's likely they'll need more complex procedures to restore their teeth to health.

This is not the situation you want to create for your child, and you can avoid this by finding a children's dentist in Hartford, CT who makes your little one's experience at the dentist fun and upbeat.

How We Can Help at JP Dental

As parents themselves, Dr. Chung and Dr. Park understand how critical these early visits are for creating a relationship with your child and showing them the dentist is not a scary place. This is why we suggest they come for their first visit around the age of three years old when they can sit more comfortably in the dental chair.

We allow plenty of time at those first visits to talk with your son or daughter and make sure they understand what we're going to do before any procedure takes place. If they don't feel entirely comfortable, we won't proceed with any treatment procedures. Our goal is that your child feels safe and welcome at our dental office, so they look forward to visiting us in the future.

What You Can Do at Home to Help Your Child Feel at Ease

As their first visit approaches, be sure to talk about it with your child. There are many books and stories about the dentist you can read to them beforehand to help them prepare for their appointment.

If you've ever felt fearful about going to the dentist, be sure not to project these fears onto your child. Talk about it positively to ensure they feel comfortable about their first visit.
